The annual working meeting of Subcommittee on Polymer Terminology of Polymer Division of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) took place in Kuching (Sarawak, Malaysia) from July 23 to July 26. The meetings were attended by the Director of ISPM RAS, Corresponding Member of RAS Sergey Ponomarenko as a national representative of the Russian Federation, elected for the period of 2026-2027. During the meeting all participants worked on various projects, dedicated to updating the nomenclature and terminology used in polymer chemistry. The meetings were attended by many experts in polymers from various countries in Europe, North and South America, Asia, Australia and Africa. During the period between face-to-face meetings, work on the projects continues remotely. The results of completed projects are published in the Journal Pure and Applied Chemistry  and are used as recommendations and reference materials for corresponding specialists.
On July 27-28, a general meeting of the members of the IUPAC Polymer Division  was held at the same place. Igor Laсik, the President of Polymer Division of IUPAC, reported about the activities of PD over the past year. IUPAC Vice President Christine Luscombe shared the results of the IUPAC Council meeting on July 21, 2026, which addressed the issues of upcoming IUPAC restructuring and its changes in approaches to support and implementation of new projects. Presentations were given by the organizers of MACRO2026, MACRO2028 and MACRO2030, as well as potential organizers of MACRO2032. The Chairmen of the subcommittees reported on the work of their departments over the past period, and the national representatives reported on the development of polymer science in their countries.
